Background

Clarus Consulting LLC is a professional services firm located in Fairfax, Virginia and formed in 1999. Clarus has functional expertise in Project Management, Quality Management, Audit and Internal Controls, Financial Management, IT Security, Software Lifecycle Management, and Operations and Reporting. Clarus’ industry expertise is within financial services and within education financial aid.

Clarus clients include private commercial entities, federal agencies, and large federal contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Write and edit communications and financial services customer correspondence using an array of communication media (web, digital, print, mail). Be able to consume complex information from verbal and written requirements and translate it into communication templates in a manner that is in plain language and understandable to individuals with limited higher education finance knowledge.

· Help leverage content management tools to create and publish content through a variety of media.

· Follow communication policies and procedures. Ensure compliance, quality and brand standards are achieved. Assist with quality and timeliness of work product and user acceptance testing.

· Actively participate and engage through teamwork with the Communications team, collaborating on the creation, development, adjustment and implementation of numerous communications and correspondence throughout the various project management phases.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Preference for experience with content management solutions such as xDesign or SmartCOMM (other commercial content management solution experience, knowledge, or certification should be provided by a candidate in lieu of xDesign or SmartCOMM experience.)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in matters relating to financial and loan obligation communications.

· Able to understand complex information and communicate it via written correspondence in an understandable and positive manner.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

· Ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration, public relations, or related field required.

· Prior student loan or financial services experience preferred.

· At least three (3) years of experience in writing, communications, or marketing where primary work consisted of defining communication scope and objective, gathering information from subject matter experts, creating communications content, editing and re-writing to meet feedback, finalizing and then implementing communication.

Security Clearance Requirement: The candidate will have to complete a security clearance application that will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education; the resulting security clearance will be a Public Trust 5C or 6C security clearance.

[This process requires a detailed application to be completed and submitted electronically. The federal background review will include professional, personal, financial, and criminal reviews. There is no cost to the candidate for this clearance application]

Security training (on-line, individual training sessions) may be required for the position and security policies and procedures will be provided to ensure compliance.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
