Summary: The Automation Engineer’s key accountability is the planning, development, design, and coordination of advanced manufacturing practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other Duties may be assigned.

1. Safety / Environmental
   1. Brings all safety / environmental concerns to the attention of the Plant Manager and/or the appropriate department manager immediately.
   2. Works with other managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to create and maintain a safe work environment.
2. Automation
   1. Evaluate manufacturing and packaging processes to improve product quality, process efficiencies, and process reliability.
   2. Develop an automation strategy to support our business demands in an evolving labor market.
   3. Simulate, install, test, and manage electrical and mechanical automation.
   4. Lead the procurement, installation, programming, and database maintenance of automated equipment.
   5. Responsible for PLC programming, debugging, and optimization.
   6. Develop appropriate manufacturing process documentation for integration into the company’s quality system. Provide training to operators, maintenance, and managers on new or modified processes.
3. Other Duties / Responsibilities
   1. Participate in implementing safety improvements.
   2. Assist in determining root cause and provide corrective action with customer product complaints.
   3. Participate in cost reduction projects.
   4. Assists with improvement of production processes through equipment evaluations, training, and implementation of new process such as bar-coding.

Qualification requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline; preferably manufacturing, mechanical, electrical or industrial. Preferred experience at least two years in Automation, Controls, and Manufacturing. Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement methods including LEAN Manufacturing concepts. Advanced Diploma of Industrial Automation or Advanced Diploma of Remote Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics a plus. Work Key Scores required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create engineering specifications. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and visitors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret graphs. Ability to read and interpret scales.
