Overview

As an Entry level Solid Waste Engineer for CEC, you will work on civil and environmental engineering projects primarily associated with solid waste facilities. These projects will involve completing engineering tasks such as airspace, excavation, and fill volume calculations; preparation, review, and compilation of technical reports; stormwater management system design; landfill grading; final cover design; and leachate and landfill gas collection system design. Many solid waste sites also require site civil engineering related to excavation design, design of berms and retaining walls, roadway design, railway design, building and scale design, transfer station design, electrical design, water & sewer service design, essentially every aspect of civil engineering. Across the Phoenix Office and across CEC nationwide, you will interact with office and field staff, clients and contractors, and regulatory personnel. Your effort will be part of the overall completion of our landfill design, construction, and certification projects.

Responsibilities

• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar, to develop engineering plans for design, construction, and permitting;
• Prepare civil-engineering-related analyses, design, and calculations;
• Prepare engineer’s opinions of probable construction costs;
• Prepare technical reports; and
• OTHER (e.g., AMLs and Five-Year Plans).

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering;
• 0-2 years’ professional engineering experience;
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and through writing;
• Ability to take direction and complete assigned tasks;Organizational skills;
• Ambition with a desire to learn and apply new skills;
• E.I.T. or FE certification;
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, HEC-RAS or other computer modeling software;
