ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF ALL EQUIPMENT OPERATORS:

  • Operate heavy equipment in a highway and/or heavy construction environment.
  • Assisting crews in digging ditches, trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment and other related work.
  • Perform routine inspection of assigned equipment for defects/repairs.
  • Cleaning of assigned equipment.
  • Performance of all duties in conformance with appropriate safety standards.
  • Work is performed under variable weather conditions including wet, hot and humid conditions. Noise level is loud. Frequent vibration due to terrain being uneven will occur.
  • Ability to enter and exit equipment using ladder from an elevated level.

ALL POSITIONS ARE NON-EXEMPT. All positions require your own reliable transportation to and from job sites which vary within the Metro Nashville area and surrounding counties. Overtime and Saturday work is required. Estimated annual salary is $55,000 - $80,000 based on experience.

CLASS A

Backhoe/Hydraulic Excavator ¾ yard and over. Loader 3 yards and over, Finish Dozer Operator. Minimum 2 years experience.

CLASS B

Backhoe/Hydraulic Excavator less than ¾ yard, Bull Dozer or Push Dozer, End Loader less than 3 yards, Rough Dozer, Scraper, Shovel, Trencher. Minimum 1 year experience.

CLASS C

Asphalt Paver, Concrete Finishing Machine, Concrete Paver, Scale, Spreader (self-Propelled), Concrete Grinder, Asphalt Milling Machine, Boring Machine (Horizontal). Minimum 1 year experience.

CLASS D

Bobcat, Concrete Pump, Concrete Saw, Curb Machine (Auto or Manual) Dozer or Loaders (Stockpile), Drill (Piling), Mulcher or Seeder, Rock Drill (Truck Mounted), Roller (Asphalt), Roller (Compaction Self-Propelled), Soil Stabilization Machine, Tractor (boom & Hoist), Bituminous Distributor Machine, Pump, Track Drill, Striping Machine Operator, Ditch Paving Machine. Prefer minimum of 1 year experience but willing to train individual with prior skills in highway construction as laborer or pipelayer.
