The Director of Engineering will oversee the operation, maintenance and repair of resort equipment, tools and facilities. Will have oversight of the work and manage the maintenance staff and ensure that facilities and systems operate properly. Maintain the operation of the entire resort facility including the physical building structures, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventive maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive property.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Overall management and supervision of the Engineering Department.
  • Responding to and overseeing maintenance requests throughout the Resort.
  • Assign duties, prioritize and direct tasks to Engineering staff to accomplish the goals of the department and overall needs of the property.
  • Overseeing the weekly work schedule and payroll for the Engineering staff.
  • Must possess knowledge in general building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, painting and pool/equipment maintenance.
  • Obtaining approval for all capital budget items that need to be purchased.
  • Obtaining contractor proposal and bids for major engineering work needed by the Resort and communicating with the General Manager for approval of proposal and bids.
  • Keeping accurate records of all Engineering material requirements, warranties and work orders records.
  • Approve and audit all charges for material and supplies used by Engineering.
  • Developing an annual budget and implementing a management strategy to remain within that budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Federal and State Regulation on HVAC, paint products, plumbing and structural codes, environmental and life safety, and the proper disposal of engineering by-products.
  • Maintaining a high level of OSHA awareness in all Engineering areas.
  • Must be familiar with the mechanical operation of the physical building, landscaping systems, spa/pool/fitness/AV/kitchen equipment and fire/safety systems.

Requirements

  • Ten-year’s experience as an Engineer, including at least 5-years’ experience in the Resort industry or equivalent, as well as a proven management experience preferred
  • Ability to operate power equipment necessary for the tasks.
  • Reporting and budgeting tasks
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors throughout the year, as well as evening and weekend hours as necessary.
