CITY OF PUEBLO is Hiring a Temp Community Outreach Specialist Near CO, CO

The Community Outreach Specialist position is a temporary non-exempt position limited to 1380 hours annually. The Community Outreach Specialist will be assigned to the Directing Other to Services (DOTS) team and will report to the Team Coordinator.
This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required of the position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the close supervision of the departmental staff, this position will report to the DOTS team. The duties can be very specific or wide-ranging and will be assigned based upon the individual’s level of education and experience. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Attends collaboration meetings and department-related meetings 
  • Educates and interacts with public regarding technology and resources
  • Reviews and makes recommendations of project forms, policies, and processes
  • Assists with the implementation of technology connection
  • Helps departmental staff with connecting DOTS patients to resources
  • Performs minor miscellaneous clerical work (mailing, printing, data entry, etc.)
  • Assists with data collection, documentation, and reports
  • Reviews source documents for accuracy, proper authorizations, and corrects discrepancies and errors
  • Collects the emails, responds to the sender, creates, and maintains data regarding contacts and education
  • Prepares a requested reports including an update to the summary document/data
  • Performs any other related clerical and computer duties as required
  • Logs information in applicable Excel spreadsheets and databases
 
Through this experience, the incumbent may be asked to:
  • Develop surveys and reports that identify program achievements/deficiencies, establish trends, and offer practical solutions to common program challenges
  • Evaluate forms and policies and provide written recommendations to the Chief of the Department and community partners
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical standard an incumbent must meet in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation may include, but are not limited to:

Must have the knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office and other applications including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases
  • General clerical methods 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Must poses a valid, unrestricted driver’s license at the time of application and a valid, unrestricted Colorado driver’s license at the time of appointment
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications with a focus on Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • At least two (2) years of successful demonstrated experience using computers and computer-related equipment
  • At least two (2) years of clerical experience in a professional environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • An associate degree related to administration, communications, public relations, or media relations
  • Experience in the medical field

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job including the ability to retrieve information from various locations and sources when needed. The position requires a great deal of interpersonal communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies. The individual may be frequently exposed to periods of demanding activity and moderate mental stress. The Colorado driver’s license must be maintained throughout the term of employment.
