The Traffic Engineering Project Manager performs professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction and operation of the roadway network\r\n\r\n

General Description

\r\n\r\nReviews and approves Traffic Engineering elements for capital projects and maintenance. Oversees staff and consultants for all traffic engineering activities.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Essential Functions

\r\nThis is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. Examples of essential duties may include assignments in the following areas:\r\n\r\n\r\n Address concerns related to traffic operations and traffic signal infrastructure needs\r\n Develop, plan and review Signage and Pavement Markings drawings and plans\r\n Review Traffic Engineering studies\r\n Evaluate bicycle/pedestrian safety for existing, new and planned facilities\r\n Perform professional project management by directing the work of consultants and contractors\r\n Review and approve payments of invoices, coordinate resources and ensure conformance with applicable engineering standards� Design engineering solutions to meet the project objectives\r\n Perform independent cost estimates and cost analyses.\r\n Attend project meetings, review plans and resolve design or construction issue\r\n\r\nProduces, reviews, and administers contract documents by designing and writing specifications, writing and sealing legal descriptions, preparing cost estimates, conducting public participation programs, receiving permits, evaluating and recommending bids, monitoring contractors work progress, adjusting designs, negotiating change orders, supervising tests, and completing tests\r\nConducts engineering analysis and develops, designs, and enforces codes by reviewing and approving plans and specifications, preparing and overseeing the preparation of permits and compliance demonstrations, gathering field data, researching engineering records, evaluating design alternatives, improving programs for effectiveness, ensuring compliance with permit application requirements, conducting site visits and inspections, identifying problems, developing designs and plans to resolve problems and preparing design changes \r\nInteracts with other agencies, the public, contractors, consultants, and City ot Tucson staff by coordinating between the associated parties, maintaining contact with citizen groups and the general public, coordinating and attending public meetings, answering citizen, consultant, and legal inquiries, providing information and responding to and investigating citizen complaints \r\nPrepares forecasts of needed funds, assists in the development and implementation of budgets, monitors project budgets, authorizes expenditures and budget allocations, reviews budget documents and prepares reports and communications \r\nMay serve in a supervisory capacity for professional and non-professional staff \r\nThis description is not intended to limit or in any way modify the right of management to assign, direct and control the work of employees under supervision. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level &�Type: Bachelor's Degree \r\nMinimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years of engineering experience\r\nAn equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.\r\n

Special Job Requirements

Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona\r\nValid and unrestricted driver's license\r\nIf you are registered in another state, please visit the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration at�https://btr.az.gov/�for reciprocity requirements.\r\n

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline \r\n• At least 5 years’ experience in engineering services \r\n• Supervisory experience \r\n• Demonstrated construction management experience \r\n• Demonstrated project management experience\r\n

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an oral board interview.�\r\n\t\tOral Board Interviews will be held on: Tuesday, February 28, 2023*\r\n\r\n*It is important to note that the City of Tucson uses Microsoft Teams for its virtual interviews.
