City of St. Petersburg is Hiring a Maintenance Worker II (Part-Time) Near Saint Petersburg, FL

This is a part-time, semi-skilled manual work requiring the application of skills and knowledge above the basic laboring level at the City's Marina. Work is characterized by advanced manual tasks to include the operation of light duty trucks and less complex automotive type equipment, riding lawn mowers, the use of specialized machines, such as hand and power tools, and the use of construction equipment. Employees in this position are responsible for operating the pump out boat (pumping wastewater from tenant’s boats). Employees in this position are required to work inside and outside, year-round, sometimes in inclement weather.
Salary:$15.91 - $21.40 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Have some boating experience.
  • Be able to examine, evaluate and determine the proper course of action to be able to repair, replace and improve a wide variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Be able to respond to tenant complaints and requests tactfully and respectfully.
  • Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

    Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have some computer knowledge.
