The current Analyst opening will be a part of our Public Works Department. The Public Works Department is committed to providing the highest quality services in the most cost effective manner, while ensuring that the maintenance, construction, and operations of the public facilities and programs under its care are adequate, safe and serviceable to the satisfaction of its customers; the community of Redondo Beach. 

The Analyst works under general supervision will perform professional level duties in the Public Works department and perform other related duties such as providing information to the public through the website, public channels, and social media sites. The ideal candidate will be familiar with construction procurement, administration, and assessment district administration.

This position is accountable as a team member to perform administrative and support duties and services including but not limited to: 

  • Performs various assignments and provides administrative staff support services 

  • Compiles and analyzes various types of data required for resolutions, reports and surveys, and participates in their preparation 

  • Participates in the preparation of specifications; Monitors activity reports

  • Provides information to and consults with the public

  • Maintains liaison with departments and other agencies

  • Participates in budget preparation and monitors budget expenditures

  • Researches and evaluates grants-in-aid funding sources and participates in the preparation of grant applications

  • Attends meetings and training sessions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

CLASSIFICATION:

This position is designated as Classified and is exempt from coverage under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime regulations.
This position requires:
Knowledge of: Research and analytical methods; basic principles and practices of public or
business administration.
The ability to: Learn the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the department
assigned; compile, analyze, and evaluate data; establish and maintain effective working
relationships with others; effectively communicate in writing and orally; meet prescribed
physical/medical standards for employment; legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of
California.
Required Education, Experience, and/or Licenses
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a baccalaureate degree in an occupationally related field.
    • Additional occupationally related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to four (4) years. 
  • At least one year of municipal agency work experience.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver License.

SELECTION PROCESS:
The selection process may include but is not limited to: Application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview. All employment offers made by the City are contingent upon establishing proof of a prospective candidate's legal authorization to work in the United States and successfully passing all components of the pre-employment process, such as: reference check, background investigation, fingerprint criminal history check, post-offer drug test, post-offer psychological and post-offer medical examination, the cost of which will be borne by the City.
