This position is responsible for supporting the Head Golf Professional, while working closely with the Chef to oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing, training, and implementation necessary to achieve stated objectives. The Food and Beverage Manager will be an integral part of and will oversee, the daily operation of the Front of House staff (FOH). The Food and Beverage Manager will be a highly visible and accessible manager and must demonstrate the ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and train all Servers/Bartenders/Expos and other service staff as assigned. This position will oversee and report on daily food and beverage sales, costs of goods sold, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, programing, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation.

  • Follows and implements all procedures and policies as described in the Palm Beach Gardens’ Golf Course Manual, as well as the Community Services Division procedures and the City’s Policies and Procedures
  • Must have a working knowledge of the financial and maintenance and safety procedures to provide effective daily operations of the facility
  • Enforces policies and standard operating procedures regarding facility use, and financial operations for staff and patrons alike
  • Acts as a productive committee member when assigned
  • Co-develop and implement menus for all food outlets by collaborating with the Chef using market trends, administration input, and product mix
  • Ensure that all FOH employees are trained and up to date on safe services practices and all required licenses are current
  • Works directly with vendors to ensure they are registered with the city as an approved vendor and obtains appropriate COI’s as required
  • Identifies issues, places work orders as needed, and arranges equipment and material purchases and replacements
  • Schedules all FOH staff as needed to uphold the highest services standards
  • Achieve Club objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment
  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with Club policies and procedures
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations for both a la cart and private events (banquets)
  • Works in collaboration with the Tournaments and Events Coordinator to ensure event space is properly staged and cleaned before and after events and tournaments
  • Continually strives to develop staff in all areas of professional development
  • Oversee the development of all training programs to ensure the clubs service and performance standards are met including integration of staff in all areas
  • Oversee and ensure that employee performance standards are followed
  • Be knowledgeable of City policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of City policies, rules and procedures
  • Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules in an organized and timely manner
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the Club’s preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the Club’s receiving policies and procedures
  • Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the Club, employees, and guests
  • Collaborating with the Head Golf Professional and General Manager, to develop and implement F&B departmental budgets and goals
  • Develop, plan, and carry out marketing and promotional activities and campaigns
  • Collaborate with all managers to provide any/all food and beverage requirements, to promote other Club programs and/or activities, and generally provide guests an exceptional overall service experience
  • Identify CIP needs, collaborate on special events, menus, pricing, and other departmental items, needs and initiatives
  • Other functions as assigned

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

  • Assists with various peripheral duties including the picking up of supplies, ordering materials, running errands, arranging for the rental and/or maintenance of equipment and set-ups for special events
  • Composes and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness
  • Ability to provide backup to related positions as division needs require
  • Ability to operate a city vehicle as division needs require
  • Responds to emergency operations as assigned and acts as an EM team member during Emergency management activation within City limits as assigned, including F&B prep for EM facilities staff, and/or assuming a leadership role on all EM team pre, during, or post event
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or within the hospitality industry in a managerial role required. Previous golf club experience is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate advanced profit and loss knowledge, Food and Beverage service standards, preparation of same, generally involving at least five years of Front-of-the-House and Back-of-House experience
  • Must be proficient in menu (food and bar) underwriting/costing and cost reporting
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have advanced ability to operate POS systems and Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have strong communication skills with service staff, kitchen staff, peers, management, and passholders and vendors
  • Exceptional customer service awareness and skills
  • Must be highly organized and possess strong leadership skills
  • Must learn quickly and handle change well
  • Must be able to compile a budget, report on revenues and expenses, and find cost-reducing methods of operating
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record.
