Are you passionate about automobiles? Do you understand the functions of automobile parts, garage supplies and tools? Our team repairs and performs preventative maintenance work on a wide variety of gasoline, diesel, propane and other power-driven automotive and construction equipment. General supervision is provided by the Fleet Supervisor.

Our Public Works Operations Division is looking for an individual to assist our Fleet Team on a temporary, part-time basis. This position has a flexible schedule and could work up to 40 hours per week with a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year (July 1- June 30). The schedule is between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Note About Temporary & Part-Time Positions: Temporary and part-time employees are at-will and not covered by the City's Civil Service System. No benefits are afforded to temporary employees, with the exception of participation in the mandatory temporary employee retirement plan.

• Required to apply the lubricants to the moving parts of the vehicle engines and ensure they prevent any damage to the engine.
• Keep regular checks on the engine to prevent premature wear and ensure optimal engine performance.
• Perform engine cleaning and prevent rust formation on the engine and its parts.
• Replace cabin, fuel, air, and oil filters as required.
• Lubricate the wheel bearings and prevent tire wear whenever required.
• Assists in the general maintenance of equipment maintenance shop area.
• Ensures safe equipment operation and work practices.
• Maintains work and preventative maintenance records.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• One (1) year of experience in servicing, maintaining or repairing vehicles and
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Possession and continued maintenance of a Valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
• Willing to work in a noisy environment with fumes from automotive exhausts and solvents; perform heavy manual labor which may include lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and moving tires and other items weighing up to 75 pounds and work a variety of weather conditions in emergency situations.
