CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
POSITION PURPOSE: Provide manual labor support for concrete technicians to ensure the safety and quality of transportation for City of Enid residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma of general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and or/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highways and roads.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Working knowledge of operating various hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists.
Ability to operate a backhoe, skid steer, and front end loader.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to assist and support others.
Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
FINGER DEXTERITY: Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES: Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: PDC Level: Heavy Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times a day). Requires a push/pull exertion of force of 100 lbs frequently. Heavy physical activity required performing strenuous daily activities. Prolonged kneeling; frequent bending and squatting. Periodic shoveling requiring lifting from ground to waist to shoulder.
LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Regular – 8 hour shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Other–Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other personnel.
May be required to work nights and weekends during snow and ice events, 10-12 hours.
Early morning or night time hours could be required for work that would need to be done in high traffic areas, very limited.
WORK CONDITIONS: Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
Noise level: Very loud. Hearing protection required.
Other work conditions: Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.
ADVANCEMENT CRITERIA:
INTERMEDIATEADVANCED3-5 years’ experience.
5 years’ experience.
Specialized vocational training or additional coursework in related field.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent in related field.
Ability to fill in concrete technicians on short-term basis.
Ability to fill in concrete technicians on an extended term basis.
Valid CPR Certification.
