The City Commission desires candidates who are visionary, innovative and team oriented in their approach,
and able to employ a style that engenders mutual trust and openness with community partners and
stakeholders. This position will report directly to the Finance Director.

Major Function:

Under general supervision, this position consists of analyzing financial information, accounts payables,
payroll, vendor administration, making sure everything is documented and accurate. Prepare audit request
items. Investigate and resolve any issues. Ensure all regulatory requirements and generally accepted
accounting principles are maintained. Works closely with management to evaluate business functions.
Suggest changes to employee workflow to increase productivity or point out a way to make a process more
cost-effective. Ensure financial soundness.

Essential Job Duties:

• Manage the accurate and timely processing of all City invoices, check requests and bills.
• Prepare the warrant for City Commission agendas.
• Process Payroll by collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages,

and processing employee payment and maintaining accurate payroll records.

• Reconcile and distribute employee tax and benefit payments to vendors (Florida Retirement System,

ICMA, IRS, Florida Department of Revenue, Union Dues, etc.)

• Reconcile employee benefit deductions to monthly invoices.
• Process Year-End Tax Related Responsibilities including W-2, 1099, etc.
• Prepare and post entries to accounts to include budget transfers, amendments, and journal entries.
• Daily Positive Pay bank verifications.
• Vendor Maintenance.
• Assist in the preparation of City’s annual budget.
• Process annual unclaimed funds reports.
• Assess data and information to verify entry, calculation, and billing code accuracy.
• Assist with external audit.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications:

• Knowledge of governmental accounting principles.

• Knowledge of computer systems pertaining to accounting and financial management.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to analyze financial data and discern underlying problems to make corrections.

• Ability to exercise good judgment in financial management.
• Advanced mathematical skills.
• Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
• Pertinent Federal, State, and local codes, laws, and regulations.

Education Requirements/Minimum Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration with continuing education in

finance, accounting, and information technology related subjects.

• Two years of experience in governmental accounting.
• A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Professional Licenses Required/Special Requirements:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License
