CITY OF BRISTOL is Hiring a Transportation Planner Near Bristol, VA

The City of Bristol, Virginia has an immediate opening for the position of Transportation Planner. Reports to the City Manager. Performs administrative and professional services to the Metropolitan Planning Organization and local government agencies. Responsible for daily operations, budget development, hiring decisions, and other required duties for the City Transit system and in accordance with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Applies for, and manages, state and federal grants and submits reimbursement requests for state and federal funding. Coordinates transportation planning functions for the City of Bristol, VA to ascertain a functional balance between land use and the City transportation system. Coordinates special events that take place on City properties. Performs traffic counting procedures and speed studies. Oversees road improvement projects and creates traffic management plans. This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree in planning or related field preferred. Experience in government with emphasis in traffic engineering and /or transportation planning environment preferred.
