Engineering Tech I - Basic functions include the performance of varied engineering assignments, such as engineering drafting, field survey work, and construction inspection. The work may include collecting survey information, construction layout, utility locations, drafting of construction plans, basic technical computations, inspection of routine construction projects, and maintenance of department records. Duties also include observing, collecting, monitoring, and assisting with analyzing crash data, traffic flow, volumes and speeds, signal operations, pedestrian movements, and other data.
Engineering Tech II - This position has responsibilities that range from advanced level to supervisory level in support of a broad range of engineering specialty activities. Duties include interpreting engineering guidelines; coordinating varied activities; performing engineering drafting and design work, traffic engineering improvements, materials acceptance evaluations, bridge/structure inspections and construction inspections for moderate to major scale projects; providing training and technical assistance to others; performing detailed reviews of engineering related projects; preparing plans, designs, specifications, and bid packages for division projects; and observing, collecting, monitoring, and analyzing crash data, traffic flow, volumes and speeds, signal operations, pedestrian movements, and other data.
