Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business and have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a client relationship group, dedicated to overseeing the Organizational service performance and strategic partnership for our top tier client base, where we play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first-class experience when doing business with Citi.

Our Business Intelligence and Process Re-engineering group works alongside our Operations teams delivering automation solutions to solve for operational challenges. We partner with Citi’s innovation labs to drive optimization, and overall play a pivotal role in enabling us to transform to achieve our target operating model.

Our Technology partners develop and implement a wide range of applications that support the Operations, Change, Design, and Implementation groups in providing innovative products and solutions. We have re-imagined how to provide technology and service in our domain through the alignment of our team vision, culture, and aggressive retirement plan for legacy applications and adoption of a micro-based containerized cloud environment. Prime Finance Middle Office supports the Stock Lending and Equity Finance trading desks and is part of the overall Prime Finance Business unit. We work closely with our external global peers, partners, and regulators, and play an integral part in leading an agenda at the forefront to optimize and streamline processes and drive strategy across our industry. 

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate delivers dedicated service to our internal and external partners, is responsible for the daily processes of the middle office to ensure books and records are in line with the agent position and the daily controls are followed to prevent risk to the firm. This is a high-profile role with exposure to large volumes and high value items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to identify and resolve breaks between Citi books and records and agent positions.
  • Act as a 1st level escalation contact for internal teams, resolving or escalating issues and breaks to senior management appropriately.
  • Actively develop relationship with internal partners / teams to review current processes and identify improvement areas.
  • Enhance our client experience by driving process improvements to increase the automation of daily processes.
  • Work closely with Prime Finance control team to provide accurate information for internal and external audit requests.

  • Develop knowledge of the project prioritization process learning to drive change within the business.
  • Development of communication skills and exposure to senior management by providing management updates at a regional level and participating in site wide meetings.
  • Develop knowledge on the team’s strategies and how to influence functional decisions that have a direct impact on the business.
  • Build business relationships throughout the organization.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge of life-cycle of trade processing for Equity and Fixed Income products including trade capture, P&L, settlement, and reconciliations for the Stock Borrow / Loan product area.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience of applying technical knowledge of concepts and procedures to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience of working in a deadline driven environment.
  • Work experience within the Financial Services Industry is a benefit.

Skills /Competencies:

  • Computer literate - Ability to quickly grasp several in house systems including Microsoft office applications.
  • Communication – Strong communication and diplomacy skills to communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Problem solving - Resolve complex problems where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of basic procedures and industry standards.
  • Planning and organizing – Ability to work independently and multitask under pressure.
  • Attention to detail – Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Leadership – Ability in developing and empowering others to accomplish their goals and resolve issues.
  • Proactive - Identifying situations that could result in new business and developing recommendations tailored to the client.
  • Diverse - demonstrate an appreciation of a diverse workforce by using differences to add value to decisions or actions for organizational success.
