The Position

A successful Vice President is a self-starter and an expert in communications, PR, issues and crisis management… both in developing winning strategies, and in executing tactically. We are looking for a veteran who covers a lot of ground, someone who is just as comfortable proposing proactive reputation campaigns as they are developing responsive strategies to protect the reputation of our clients when an issue arises. This role requires driving growth with new and existing clients as well as serving as a thought leader across the industry through outreach to c-suite, industry conferences and Revive’s owned channels.

Our growing team is looking for an exceptional strategist, who can manage and drive client engagements with minimal oversight, while leading integrated communications teams. You will advise clients and develop innovative communications programs that help them navigate complex and sometimes difficult issues, protecting or bolstering their brand. You will be flexible and able to balance multiple assignments at once for the larger and more complex accounts.

An understanding of hospital systems and healthcare, issues management – inclusive of M&A expertise – as well as public affairs, is a must. Demonstrated experience in the execution of strategic communication programs is required, particularly in the context of integrated engagements – working closely with Project Management, Communications, Client Experience, and Marketing (Content, Creative, Media) departments. Experience driving new business opportunities and industry connections to build communications and issues programs from the ground up, as well as having an eye for agency thought leadership is also required.

The Responsibilities

Includes, but not limited to the following:

  • Create and drive impactful communications strategies to enhance the reputation of our clients.
  • Expertise navigating the challenges of internal audiences, particularly in healthcare which has a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Invested in the professional growth for team members
  • Provide strategic council to clients that solves current issues and proactively foresees future issues with a strong point-of-view
  • Own and build strong relationships with the clients; serves as a trusted partner and confidante for clients
  • Drive the daily work forward and serve as the critical bridge between client and team to make sure every effort is in service of the communications objective
  • Stays attuned to current and historical behaviors and trends to shape a POV on what’s next, and defines how that impacts communications strategies for clients
  • Manage account workload and clarify the right activities to focus time and energy on
  • Draft materials, from communications plans to scenario plans to media strategies and messaging
  • Guide and drive the team’s understanding of what “on quality, on time, on budget” looks like
  • Be a business driver, leveraging relationships and lead communications new business efforts, from initial intake calls to proposal development to servicing of the business
  • Understand trends and see around corners to create unique thought leadership content
  • Mentor, coach and develop any direct reports into strategic client counselors while supporting personal and professional development goals
  • Oversee business growth and lead new business calls, identifies and conducts outreach to prospects and engage with clients to grow our work – setting regular plans and measuring impact
  • Serve as a Revive spokesperson for industry speaking events, blog posts and thought leadership content

The Essentials

  • Experience working in proactive communications and crisis communications
  • Willingness to travel
  • 10 years of agency or in-house healthcare experience required/preferred
  • Experience managing a team
  • HIPPA Compliance/Regulation Knowledge 
  • Interpersonal/Soft Skills: Communication both written and verbal, Negation skills, Persuasive, Collaborative, Problem Solver, Self-Starter, Service Minded Approach, Relationship building, hard worker, learner
  • Comfortable working in an open office environment
  • Ability to multitask, and delegate, working in a high-volume environment
  • Discernment to protect confidential information, both verbal and written
