Circa - IPG DXTRA is Hiring an Editorial Lead Near New York, NY

Are you a reader of Wired, CJR, a16z? Intrigued by GPT-3, NFTs, Discord, DAOs and disinformation? Curious about all things media, metaverse and meme culture? Are you a strong writer, game to dig into emerging topics – from platforms du jour and resulting behaviors, to innovators reshaping communication – synthesizing intel, unearthing interesting angles and carving out compelling POVs? Do you have a deep passion for, and almost relentless interest in, learning about media and technology change – and its impact on humans and brands? Are you comfortable with a combination of established priorities and hard deadlines, along with a healthy dose of impromptu assignments? Are you more boundary-pusher than status quo? Do you consider yourself both a maker and a thinker? If so, keep reading.

We’re looking for a new team member, a driven writer/editor/collaborator to create content for new and existing platforms, including Media Genius. Key to the role will be collaborating with the team, including global Futures Chairman Chris Perry, to cement our editorial focus. This colleague will lead development of weekly thought-provoking/timely/relevant newsletters, as well as Medium posts, longer-form narratives, client updates and beyond, which demonstrate our understanding of new and emerging territories across tech, culture and society – and their implications for our work. This individual will identify colleagues within the firm, Student fellows and other external individuals as appropriate, as guest writers, refining their submissions to best to deliver for subscribers and the firm. Additionally, they will consider subscriber analytics to inform topics, authors and formats, thoughtfully pilot new extensions/platforms, ideate/execute around engaging/activating subscribers and potential subscribers.

As part of Weber Shandwick Futures, a progressive R&D unit that builds new services for the Weber Shandwick Collective, this individual will help the team to articulate and market groundbreaking service propositions, showcase first-of-their-kind technology applications, and detail innovative partnerships and collaborations. This is a role for someone who wants to think, research, write, discuss, and write some more. For someone skilled at tapping into diverse resources, distilling complex topics, succinctly conveying what’s important and drawing out potential implications.

A bit more context:

• Ours is a legit collaborative team. There's lots of solo work, along with one-on-ones with a team member, and group work including brainstorms.

• Proven ability to synthesize complex information and write sharp, concise copy is essential.

• This work is at the center of our team's agenda and essential to the firm's. You’ll be a key voice of Media Genius, helping to fuel important Futures and agency IP.

• Being interested in the topics we're covering – and identifying new ones we should be digging into – is crucial. There will be a lot of reading, watching, researching, synthesizing. Having a POV is essential.

• This role will collaborate closely with the Futures team, including work with Media Genius Fellows.

We're looking to get someone on board STAT, so please apply ASAP at the link below if you're interested. As part, we’ll ask you to provide 3-5 recent writing samples: If tasked with writing a Media Genius newsletter this week, what topic and angle would you dig into? What’s your pitch? If you’re a Media Genius reader, you know we’re big proponents of reading/watching/listening/speaking with multiple sources to deeply understand a topic or issue. Tell us about a publication/feed/program/board/group/server you’d recommend we add to our growing list and why.

The Weber Shandwick Collective recognizes that your health and wellbeing are a priority. This is why we offer a full suite of benefits including:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • 401k (with employer match)
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Juice Money - $60 monthly reimbursement to be used towards purchases that nourish your health, mind, body, and soul
  • MyDays – Flexible holiday schedules
  • Short-Term Disability
  • Paid Employee Family Leave
  • Family Building Benefit

Employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination prior to start date, unless eligible for a medical or religious accommodation or other accommodation required under applicable law.
