Test Engineer

Location – Herndon, VA

Basic Job Description:

Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains solutions for the integration and testing of in-house developed and COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems and/or systems. Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem. Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability, develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems. Coordinates subsystem and/or system testing activities with programs and other organizations. Performs analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive subsystem and/or system level evaluation reports which verify and validate system performance. Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems and systems.

Program Specific Job Description:

The GEOINT Repository For Needs (GRFN) Program provides critical capabilities to help enable efficient and timely GEOINT collection management across multiple collection providers. GIMS (GEOINT Information Management Services) operates on multiple hardware platforms and combines COTS software with a custom-built application to meet critical mission objectives. The program is structured utilizing DevSecOps and Agile principles. These software development methods emphasize communication, collaboration (information sharing and web service usage), integration, automation, and measurement of cooperation between software developers and other IT professionals. Operational stability is the highest program priority.
As a member of the System Integration Team (SIT), the selected individual will participate in areas of system-level test to support Feature Acceptance Test (FAT), Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities, Enterprise Test, Regression Test, and required Performance Testing. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Define test requirements and system test procedures
• Develop, write, and issue various test documents
• Develop and execute test scenarios
• Develop and execute automated testing
• Conduct test and operational demo planning
• Conduct/support external segment interface verification
• Coordinate and support IV&V and Enterprise Test events
• Coordinate and schedule system resources to support testing
• Coordinate and participate in Technical Exchange Meetings
• Support integration and planning for future deliveries and systems

The candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance, or an active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with an established test team on a medium to large scale development program.
• Experience in working on an Agile program.
• Experience in defining test plans & procedures.
• Experience in test execution on a classified environment.
• Excellent oral and written skills.

Applicant selected must possess a current TS / SCI clearance (government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information).

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Prior domain knowledge related to the GEOINT Information Management Services (GIMS) system and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).
• Understanding of the interaction of other Intelligence Community (IC) systems that interface with GIMS.
• Experience in development and/or execution of Automated Tests.
• Previous software development and/or system engineering experience.
• Ability to conduct demonstrations for both internal (program) and external (customer) audiences.

Education:

Bachelor (or 4 years additional experience)
