Position Description

Overview

Care Medical Practice is an owned and operated medical group of CINQCARE, INC which is a physician led community-based ambulatory delivery system that is singularly focused on addressing health inequities in black and brown communities that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The medical model is anchored on providing as much medical care at home and in the community with strong clinical support systems and integration with CBOs. A Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support under the guidance and supervision of healthcare providers and aids in building long-term patient relationships.

Responsibilities & Duties

1. Perform administrative functions including not limited to verifying patient demographics, insurance, and registration for visits and collection of payment.
2. Prepare and complete prior authorizations for diagnostic testing utilizing insurance.
3. Management of triages, inbound faxes, orders, overdue orders, referrals and routing of documents.
4. Performance of chart preparation.
5. Assist with patient calls and routing appropriately.
6. Conducting no show calls and follow up for testing and appointments.
7. Prepare patients for provider examinations including, not limited to vitals, BMI, blood pressure, height, weight and pulse. Verify history and reason for visit.
8. Conducting point of care testing, including but not limited to glucose finger sticks, venipuncture, EKG, pregnancy tests, Covid testing and urine testing.
9. Perform dressing changes and wound care as appropriate.
10. Manage clinical supplies and inventory, checking expirations, and stocking rooms as indicated.
11. Function as a scribe.
12. Completion of forms as indicated and scheduling of patients.
13. Monitor and assist with quality measures and tracking.
14. Performance of duties assigned by management as needed.

Qualifications

A Medical Assistant should have the following qualifications:

• Education. Associates or certificate in medical assisting from an accredited facility. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (CPR) preferred
• Experience. Clinical and Administrative experience practicing in a value-based clinical model. Experience in an urban setting is preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience preferred, not required.
• Communication. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual communication skills (preferred)
• Relationships. Ability to build and effectively manage relationships with patients, team members, and network providers
• Character. Flexibility, reliability and a strong team player, good interpersonal skills, compassion, empathetic, caring and attentive nature, exemplary customer service.

Location: Brooklyn, New York

Pay: $20/hr

Shift: Flexible hours between 7am-9pm, Weekends required
