Description:

The Maintenance Worker maintains the Academy and Pre-School buildings and all related facilities by providing cleaning, upkeep and repair services within the established procedures and policies of Annunciation Catholic Academy & Pre-school, the Annunciation Parish and the Dioceses of Orlando.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains building interiors by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures; washing windows counters, walls and woodwork.
  • Maintains floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, vacuuming, and cleaning carpeting.
  • Cleans and resupplies restrooms.
  • Performs general cleaning and disinfecting using approved solvents and appropriate tools.
  • Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transports materials to disposal area; recycles materials.
  • Services and/or reports mechanical malfunctions.
  • Assists security personnel when necessary in accompanying service personnel while on premises.
  • Performs seasonal work surrounding special meetings and events.
  • Is aware of, reports, and removes possible safety hazards.
  • Performs light building/fixtures maintenance and repairs as directed. This may include painting, pressure washing, simple plumbing and electrical, and carpentry.
  • Inspects outside buildings for damage, litter and /or conditions or general deterioration and addresses and/or communicates accordingly.
  • Provides set-up and cleaning of facilities for meetings and activities as scheduled.
  • Maintains staff confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Continually monitors timeliness to achieve timely completion of all jobs.
  • Performs other duties as requested and needed.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess the necessary janitorial skills & knowledge of supplies and their applications, a general knowledge of and experience with building maintenance, the ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision, and be self-motivated.
  • Must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to communicate in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships, demonstrates sensitivity, and respect a diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to properly schedule, prioritize, and complete tasks within allocated time.
  • Requires knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Individual must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • They are as follows: Balancing, carrying, climbing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, crawling, stooping, bending, and walking.
  • The employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds and climb step-stools or ladders.
