Church Mutual Insurance, S.I. is Hiring a Regional Sales Director Near Hartford, CT

Overview

Assume responsibility for and drive successful accomplishment of annual corporate business plans in the assigned region. Develop, communicate, and monitor individual and division sales production, attrition, and service goals. Provide direct support to division level recruiting, selection, and training of direct sales staff. Administer direct sales employee and service incentive plans. Evaluate all aspects of division manager performance and provide division managers with sales and service policy, procedure, and employee performance guidance. Act as a liaison with home office functions to make technical recommendations, and resolve issues. Expand group sales and special accounts market penetration. Support division level annual budget and corresponding territory management plans.

Responsibilities

I. Assist division managers in developing annual new business premium projections and attrition forecast percentage for each territory. Analyze marketplace trends that impact and justify production, price, product, service, and business retention numbers. Monitor division goals and assist division managers in achieving all production, sales, and attrition goals

II. Develop a territory management plan for each division to maximize goal attainment, meet service requirements, and control expenses. Resolve problems or concerns that negatively impact goal attainment

III. Assist division managers in recruiting, selecting, training, and monitoring the ongoing development of assigned sales staff. Approve all new hires. Recommend topics for initial, refresher, remedial, and career development training programs

IV. Administer sales and service incentive programs. Make recommendations to improve programs as needed. Match sales and service incentive programs to desired sales, service, and attrition goals and objectives

V. Evaluate division manager performance and perform salary administration. Mentor assigned managers through scheduled personal meetings and assist them in problem resolution, technical knowledge, and methods of handling customer and personnel issues. Monitor sales staff performance, ensure accurate and timely employee appraisals, and oversee sales staff salary administration

VI. Analyze trends and make recommendations to correct errors in policy and procedure or technical/sales knowledge/actions. Work to bring about consistency within the region. Act as a liaison with home office functions that are needed to support performance improvement plans, to take corrective action, or to resolve problems

VII. Expand group sales and special account penetration by making appropriate account and prospect contacts. Make sales presentations as needed

VIII. Assist division managers in developing their annual budget. Make recommendations regarding expense control and staffing levels to adhere to budget constraints

IX. Handle sales and marketing projects as assigned

X. Report in a timely manner as directed by the Assistant Vice President – Direct Sales

Qualifications

1. Prior Experience:

A minimum of five years of management experience in commercial lines property and casualty insurance sales preferred.Individual commercial lines property and casualty sales experience desirable.Direct writer or captive agent experience desirable.

2. Education:

A bachelor’s degree from a four year resident university required.Insurance education leading toward a CPCU, CIC, or other relevant insurance designation preferred.

3. Necessary Knowledge and Abilities:

Thorough understanding of the principles of profitable property and casualty insurance operations.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Excellent property and casualty multi line product knowledge.Demonstrated knowledge of insurance related underwriting, policy issuance and billing policies, procedures, and supporting workflows.Above average computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

4. Necessary On The Job Training and Orientation:

Ability to learn the basics of the position in six months.

5. Supervisory Responsibility:

Assigned division managers and their staff.
