CHRYSALIS HOUSE, INC is Hiring a Development Manager Near Crownsville, MD

SUMMARY: We are looking to hire an enthusiastic Development Manager to secure financial support for our organization. The director of development will set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of funders' interests, and cultivate relationships with fellow employees and volunteers. The Development Manager will be an active participant in fundraising events and will maintain the organization’s social media presence. The successful applicant will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial support is making the world a better place. Preferred candidates will be self-motived and deadline-driven with the ability to multitask.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following;

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to create and implement a fundraising plan.
  • Develop a digital fundraising strategy.
  • Furnish Board of Directors and Executive Director with monthly progress reports.
  • Collaborate with a network to identify and build relationships with new donors.
  • Maintain relationships with existing donors.
  • Obtain financial support from individuals, businesses, and organizations.
  • Manage fundraising and special events.
  • Generate development materials such as grants and case statements.
  • Manage data entry and gift processing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include the following;

  • Fundraising:
    • Annual Appeals (2x/year)
    • Major donor solicitation, in collaboration with ED
    • Donor cultivation/donor relations
    • Newsletters (2x/year)
  • Community Outreach:
    • Local civic/religious organizations, including speaking engagements as appropriate
    • Website maintenance
    • Social Media 
    • Email outreach
  • Volunteers:
    • Initial point of contact for prospective volunteers
    • Works with Directors to coordinate volunteer needs/training
    • Speaker Series: outreach, scheduling, follow up
  • Other:
    • Monthly reporting to Board on Development activities

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:

      • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management, or related field.
      • 4 years of sales or business development experience.
      • Proficient with sponsorship solicitation.
      • Excellent computer skills.
      • Proficient with MS Office applications and CRMs.
      • Proficient with social media platforms.
      • Excellent understanding of development best practices.
      • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Ability to work independently.
      • Available to travel, work weekends and evenings.
      • Valid driver’s license.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Demonstration of ability of 5 - 7 years of progressive development experience required. Bachelor's degree required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Maryland Driver’s License. Clean driving record required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate understanding of special treatment needs of women substance abusers in a residential treatment setting and show evidence of empathy, sensitivity, and maturity. Must demonstrate highest professional ethical standards and adhere to Chrysalis House Core Values and Code of Ethics.
