Chobani is Hiring a Senior Director of Legal, Associate General Counsel - Labor & Employment, Ethics Near New York, NY

Summary

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join Chobani as its first labor and employment, ethics and compliance counsel. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the position will join a talented and collaborative legal team with a tremendous opportunity to influence Chobani's inclusive, dynamic and ethical culture. The role will be responsible for building and leading Chobani's labor and employment law and workplace compliance programs supporting our People and business partners. In addition, the role will be responsible for developing and leading Chobani's ethics and compliance program.

Responsibilities
  • Labor & Employment:
    • Provide pragmatic, risk-based advice to Chobani's People team and business leaders on all day-to-day aspects of labor and employment-related matters (for example, concerning recruiting, hiring, diversity and inclusion, wage and hour, compensation, leaves of absence, performance management, employee relations, traditional labor issues, investigations, disciplinary action, termination)
    • Develop and oversee efficient, scalable approaches for providing labor and employment law and litigation support, including through the innovative use of digital technologies and workflow improvements
    • Partner closely with the People team to establish and implement labor and employment investigatory strategy/approach, as well as corrective action and discipline processes
    • Oversee the drafting and/or implementation of all employment-related documents, including, by way of example, offer letters, employment, restrictive covenant, and/or separation agreements, handbooks, policies, and other resources
    • Provide the People team with guidance on relevant statutory issues (such as ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, and ERISA matters)
    • Develop and oversee annual company-wide labor and employment related training(s), including as may be required by law
    • Monitor key developments with respect to federal, state and local employment laws as they relate to Chobani's established business and locations
    • Provide collaborative support in relation to labor and employment matters to other members of the Legal department and/or People Team
    • Manage outside counsel as needed
  • Ethics & Compliance:
    • Lead the development and implementation of the Chobani Ethics & Compliance ("E&C") program
    • Provide daily advice and counsel on E&C related matters, including the code of conduct, as well as policies concerning conflicts of interest, confidentiality, anti-corruption/anti-bribery, third party due diligence, gifts/donations
    • Monitor key developments relating to E&C in the United States and ensure that appropriate policies, procedures and internal controls are developed, published and adopted accordingly
    • Develop and execute an annual company-wide E&C training, and any additional required training
    • Manage the confidential reporting tool (EthicsPoint) in collaboration with Chobani's People Team
    • Ensure that any E&C questions and/or concerns received are appropriately investigated and addressed
    • Provide collaborative support in relation to E&C matters to other members of the Legal department and/or People Team
    • Manage outside counsel as needed
Requirements
  • Licensed attorney, admitted in New York or can waive in, with J.D. from a top law school with exceptional academic credentials
  • 7 years of substantive labor and employment law experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department (experience working in-house with consumer packaged goods a plus)
  • Experience developing labor and employment and E&C policies and procedures
  • Excellent research, investigative, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with proven ability to manage multiple, evolving priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with demonstrated experience succeeding in a dynamic team environment
  • Collaborative team player who is ready, willing and able to work alongside other Legal and People team members, as well as employees and business partners
  • Practical, results-oriented approach to problem-solving with ability to effectively counsel clients by providing them with actionable, clear, and concise guidance and advice
  • Strong desire to learn Chobani's business and function integrally and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary, cross-functional team
  • Hybrid position based out of our Soho, New York office or New Jersey Lab location on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Ability to travel within North America as business needs require

Compensation Range:$185,600.00-$278,400.00, plus bonus.
