Children's Museum of Atlanta is Hiring a Development Associate Near Atlanta, GA

Description

Children's Museum of Atlanta is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), and we are the only educational venue of its kind in Atlanta. Through community outreach initiatives, educational programs, and exhibits designed for children ages 0–8, the Museum strives to spark every child's imagination, sense of discovery, and learning through the power of play. The Development Associate reports to the Assistant Director of Advancement, Special Events and Membership in the Strategic Advancement and Marketing Department. Whew. that's a lot of words, so we call it the SAM Department. This is a full time, non-exempt, hourly position at a rate of $16/hour. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, strong technical skills and the desire to learn new programs as needed, and a collaborative attitude, just to name a few. Primary role 

Responsible for assisting the Strategic Advancement and Marketing Department in supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts by performing administrative functions including, but not limited to, data entry to support special events and individual donor gifts, generating reports, overall support of special events, and assisting with management of the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist Assistant Director of Advancement, Special Events and Memberships with Board of Directors communications as needed 
  • Assist with special events, including annual gala, golf tournament, affinity group events and donor recognition events 
  • Maintain Board of Directors information and ensure up-to-date records are accessible to team; maintain Board of Directors data regarding meetings and ad hoc events as needed 
  • Maintain Advancement team expense budget, invoice tracking, submitting expenses and check requests as needed 
  • Enter and maintain individual and special event pledge and giving records into the Museum’s CRM as needed
  • With advancement team, help manage Prospect Management and Tracking plans as needed 
  • Assist SAM team with donor communications plans and implementation
  • Maintain donor communications plan across department
  • Support cultivation efforts: generate gift acknowledgements and fulfill recognition requirements 
  • Assist with internal reporting as required
  • Generate weekly fundraising status reports for department 
  • Attend community and special events as needed

Collaboration: Ability to work well with others, open to sharing ideas and building on others suggestions 

Strong Technical Skills: Knowledge of CRM systems, proficient in Microsoft office suite, ability to learn new software, experience with gift entry procedures and database management experience preferred

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Participation in professional seminars and or continuing education that directly relates to job requirements
