Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety, a program of Children’s Home Society, in Sioux Falls, SD is currently seeking a Mental Health Therapist to provide individual and group counseling services and education to victims of abuse.

What You’ll Do:

1. Counseling Services: Provide crisis and short-term counseling to children, adults, and families staying in shelter at Shelter for Family Safety and/or with the Bright Start program. Provide ongoing counseling to community clients as needed. Serve as primary contact and facilitate psychoeducation/process groups.
2. Outreach Services: Make referrals for ongoing therapeutic support for clients when appropriate and/or necessary. Assist with marketing counseling program to community and potential referral sources. Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies, schools, and universities. Provide public education presentations, as assigned.
3. Data Management: Complete necessary forms and documentation. Compile monthly, quarterly and annual statistics and other data as requested.
4. Program Management: Provide therapeutic response and activities for shelter clients. Develop/identify curriculum to be used to facilitate groups. Develop program forms; i.e., intake forms, feedback forms, documenting forms, statistics forms, etc.
5. Team Collaboration: Provide professional consultation with team members regarding clients. Collaborate with Case Managers on identified shelter clients as needed.
6. Training: Assist with training of new staff, volunteers and interns.
7. Professional Development: Attend assigned meetings and trainings.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday. Shifts vary from 8:00am-8:00pm.

Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 (Depending on Education & Experience)

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s Degree in Human Service discipline required.
• Experience: Experience providing therapy and experience working with families preferred.
• Licensure: Certified Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor able to provide therapy in the state of South Dakota (or be able to obtain licensure within first year of employment).
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Environment focused on care of individuals in crisis situations. The employee is regularly required to bend and sit on the floor. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff.
