Chestnut Health Systems is Hiring a Community Support Specialist (Mental Health & Juvenile Justice) Near Granite, IL

Overview

Make a difference in the lives of adolescents who live with mental health concerns and who are involved with the justice system. This full-time position is based in Granite City, (Madison County) IL. Daytime hours.

Responsibilities

Provide consumer-driven services identified in treatment/recovery/safety plan. Advocate on clients’ behalf. Refer clients and families to community resources especially involving court systems, probation, DCFS, and detention centers. Facilitate meetings between service providers, especially court and probation. Transport consumers to appointments as necessary. Attend regional Mental Health Juvenile Justice (MHJJ) meetings. Assume leadership role on a regular basis with little to no guidance and oversight.

Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five years’ supervised mental health experience; or a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field with less than 1,000 hours of supervised mental health experience. Valid driver’s license, private auto insurance, and must be insurable. Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and an electronic medical record.
