Overview

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Downtown Pittsburgh is pleased to share the Host/Cashier position for our on-property restaurant Bigelow Grille. Restaurant features New American cuisine distinguished by seasonal ingredients and bold Mediterranean flavors. We are located in the heart of the downtown area, a half-mile from PPG Paints Arena – home to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. We are blocks from Steel Plaza Station, providing rail access to PNC Park, Heinz Field, and South Shore entertainment district.

Position Summary

The Host/Cashier is responsible for welcoming guests and escorting them to their seats for dining in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Responsibilities

• Seat guests and manage the seating chart.• Receive incoming calls and provide information needed in polite and professional manner.• Monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow.• Perform opening and closing duties, as needed.• Completes side work to include polishing/rolling silverware, stocking condiments and glasses, sweeping and cleaning as directed by supervisor. Practices “clean as you go” method, and sanitation standards.• Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products.

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service skills and ability to attend to guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.• Must be able to speak, read, write and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job.• Outstanding organizational and time management skills.• Must be energetic and able to work in a fast-paced environment.• Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.• Employee must be able to maintain standards of attendance and punctuality and must be able to work varying schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
