Job Description

Scope Of Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Department in all activities and for the mechanical integrity program. The Maintenance Engineer will support and participate in the Responsible Care Program to ensure safe working conditions. Responsible for ensuring the site follows the Management of Change (MOC) process for all changes made to equipment, procedures and personnel. Become knowledgeable of the operation of the plant for the purpose of becoming an On-Call Supervisor for nights, weekends and holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and monitor capital appropriation requests and projects - 45%
  • Provide support to maintenance supervisor and employees including vacation relief, technical assistance, equipment troubleshooting, and maintenance initiated projects - 15%
  • Support the development and adherence to corporate pipe specifications - 10%
  • Develop and execute predictive preventative maintenance programs - 5%
  • Failure analysis of plant equipment - 5%
  • Develop inspection criteria for PSM and other equipment - 5%
  • Support and monitor mechanical integrity activities for PSM compliance - 10%
  • Support Responsible Care Activities - 5%

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities of All Employee

  • Become familiar with Chemtrade Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report all ES&H incidents (injuries, near misses, releases).
  • Complete all required ES&H training in a timely fashion.
  • Follow all Chemtrade facility and corporate ES&H procedures and practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility ES&H meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for ES&H program improvement.
  • Participate in job safety analysis activities.

Roles and Responsibilities of Supervisors:

  • Gain a thorough working knowledge of Chemtrade Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the ES&H representative to plant personnel through communication and enforcement of ES&H policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership through participation in ES&H initiatives and programs.
  • Actively drive the recognition and rewarding of positive ES&H performance by plant personnel.
  • Ensure that ES&H action items are effectively accomplished and tracked to closure.
  • Participate in ES&H meetings and training forums.
  • Respond to ES&H incidents through prompt and thorough reporting, incident investigation, root cause identification and action item implementation.
  • Develop and communicate job safety analyses for plant processes.
  • Conduct timely and thorough inspections of plant activities and areas and provide timely response to ensure that deficiencies are addressed.
  • Assist in tracking and communication of ES&H performance metrics
  • Provide input to improve ES&H performance compared to metrics.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum three years of manufacturing experience preferably in a chemical or petro-chemical environment•Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, etc.) is a plus
  • Must be a team player, able to direct and lead others.
  • Must be self-motivated with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
