JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing and analyzing operational budgets in conjunction with plant management and departmental leaders. Analyze financial statements and make recommendations to improve operational efficiencies and achievement of established goals. Prepares plant level financial results and reviews with management. Reviews job level transactions for accuracy and consistency with established processes and procedures. Responsible for standard costing system and product cost development and maintenance. Maintains accurate inventory valuation and reviews inventory turns and establishes reserves for excess and obsolete inventory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops and maintains product costs in a standard cost system. Evaluates and adjusts rates, performs cost rolls and evaluates variances in actual vs standard costing system.
Reports and evaluates inventory valuation each reporting cycle. Reviews and makes recommendations on slow moving, excess and obsolete inventories while establishing adequate and necessary inventory provisions (reserves) as required by GAAP.
Completes plant level financial reporting and reviews results with management each reporting cycle. Generates interim reports and shares with management items such as labor, materials, and expense details to ensure performance against established targets.
Works closely with other finance team members to ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting that complies with GAAP.
Reviews and ensures proper financial controls are in place and followed.
Builds Capital Budget plans and conducts assessments to determine the risk and return on equipment and/or processes and makes recommendations to management.
Reconciles inventories to the balance sheet each reporting cycle.
Develops and issues monthly reports on labor, production, variances, expenses, and other significant operations-related activity.
Helps ensure cycle count process is established, followed, reported, and periodically adjusted/updated as needed.
Coordinates and analyzes standard cost updates and cost rolls and ensures related journal entries are properly recorded in the general ledger.
Assists in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) preparation as it pertains to the operations departments and accounts.
Completes periodic analysis on costs/benefits of in-house production versus outsourcing and other production-related decisions.
Coordinates completion of various government reports, censuses, and surveys on a periodic basis.
Servies as main point of contact for inventory and cost area for external financial auditors.
