Quality Assurance Engineer

As a CPI Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be Responsible for keeping the local Quality Assurance focused on effectively implementing actions as instructed by the Quality Assurance Manager, with the purpose of reducing the risk of defective products reaching the customers.

As a CPI Quality Assurance Engineer, you will Leads the day-to-day quality assurance efforts and performs the core quality assurance tasks in the facility. Provides quality assurance support services to several departments. The support services include many tasks that contribute to the company-wide efforts to improve the quality of products and services. Such tasks include providing assistance to the Engineering Team with quality verification of new products and assisting all departments in their efforts to document procedures and instructions. Provides training in QA techniques to the Production Team and responds to requests from the Materials and Procurement Team to resolve supplier quality concerns.

Core quality assurance tasks include identifying and solving “Six Sigma” projects, planning and arranging internal and external audits and the corrective actions generated by the audits. Monitors gage calibration programs and evaluates customer complaints and rejected parts for corrective and prevention actions. Works closely with the Manufacturing Engineering and Production Team to reduce process variation and the risk of defects in the production of CPI products by applying “six sigma” quality tools and related techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the day-to-day quality assurance efforts in the assigned facility by being responsible for activities that prevent and correct poor product quality and control methods such as gage calibration, audits etc.
  • Applies appropriate QA techniques such as “Six Sigma” tools to solve QA problems in all value adding steps. Actions include defining, measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling quality risks and quality problems in products and processes.
  • Provides expertise in “lean techniques” in support of value stream business process improvement initiatives.
  • Provides training in QA techniques to new and existing employees.
  • Assists the Product Creation Team with verification of new products.
  • Assists the Manufacturing Engineering Team in the effort to reduce production process variation.
  • Monitors the gage calibration program, to ensure that gages are calibrated as per procedures.
  • Determines corrective and preventive actions for continuous quality improvements by evaluating known and potential quality problems, based on customer complaints and other information.
  • Organizes internal and external audits and reacts to findings.
  • Evaluates external quality systems in use at suppliers.
  • Documents procedures, instructions, quality plans etc. and verifies their usage.
  • Inspects products and records the results.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in related field.
  • Good knowledge and skills of current Quality Assurance methods and tools.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean project/initiatives.
  • Good knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office programs.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to travel to all CPI locations and as otherwise required.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking.
