Additional Compensation Details:

  • Salary Dependent on Experience and Location of Role

Responsibilities

Shift

6am (must be open to split days off & very occasional Sunday’s – includes Saturdays)

The Role

The dispatch position is a fast paced role where you will work closely with warehouse staff, sales, CSR’s and purchasing throughout the day chasing down orders, answers to questions, and/or helping to resolve issues. Phone calls will come in from drivers with recovery orders, problems on their route, or questions regarding pickup requests or back hauls. You will monitor route progress and inform sales about any unexpected delays. At the end of each day you will send out a recap outlining issues, dispatched routes, and any drivers still out making deliveries.

Essential Respoonsibilities Include, but Not Limited To

  • Monitor email to dispatch group. Answering questions, confirming requests, and taking care of issues as they come up.
  • Answer calls from drivers to the “Dispatch Phone” taking down information regarding order issues such as shorts, miss key, miss pick or quality.
  • Work closely with sales, CSR’s, purchasing and warehouse in a professional manner.
  • Review current orders in system and route TBD orders as they come in keeping a close eye on special request from customers.
  • Insure all orders are checked for accuracy prior to loading. Double check recovery orders that were quality issues to insure product meets customer expectations. Report to sales anything that cannot be resolved with current inventory. Share item concerns with QC group as needed.
  • Dispatch daily late routes. Insure all routes are covered, drivers are clear on where they are going, understand sequence to deliver, and that all product has been loaded on trucks from both warehouses.
  • Check off daily tasks which include scheduled pickups from vendors, recording driver call-ins (customer, reason, items) deliveries for CP Fresh, Rogge, or Frank’s.
  • Walk the dock periodically to insure nothing has been left behind, pallets are stacked neatly, and loading dock kept clean and organized. Also, insure doors 1-10 are open for returning drivers and that trucks have not been left unattended.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all departments including sales, purchasing, warehouse and upper management.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while staying positive and professional at all times. Dispatch requires focus in multiple areas simultaneously. Answering questions, checking on route status, following up with drivers, chasing product, coordinating with building 2 dispatchers, taking orders on phone from drivers, last minute changes.
  • Organizational skills required. Must have ability to keep track of day and stay on task while not losing sight of responsibilities and commitments.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Power Enterprise/Power Warehouse and SQL Dashboards.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • A good understanding of proper email etiquette and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to staying each day until the job is done. There are no clear hours in a dispatcher’s day in regards to finishing the last dispatch. Monday and Friday are heavy days and may require staying more than 8 hours.
  • Ability to work in the chilled warehouse for extended periods of time. This would be when checking orders, picking small 1-2 pc orders, or doing periodic dock checks and helping to keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Open to a spilt day work shift without consecutive days off. Plus being open to occasionally work on Sunday to help cover vacations.
