Charleston County Aviation Authority is Hiring a Customer Service Attendant I Near North Charleston, SC

Description

Direct engagement and interaction with customers, monitors and facilitates drop off and pick up traffic activity. Uses hand and audio signals to direct traffic; facilitates efficient traffic flow through congested terminal area; prevents unauthorized parking throughout terminal traffic way; deescalates conflicts, and or situations where customer/public is upset about following rules. Ensure that pedestrian traffic is moving and unobstructed. Coordinate with CCAA Police and Landside Operations on traffic management at terminal and emergent areas throughout the airport. Radio’s police department when situations cannot be resolved or there is a potentially violent situation. 

Monitor traffic patterns inside of the airport and report any impediments to the proper authority for resolution. Contact Skycaps for passengers requiring wheelchair assistance. Return unused wheelchairs to the staging area.

Monitor arrival and departure of commercial, contracted, and vendor traffic; confirms their status by seeking and verifying permits and licenses; increases internal security at terminal traffic way and curb; reports suspicious and unauthorized activities and persons on assigned airport grounds to appropriate policing or security authority and coordinates / communicates with police / TSA regarding all security issues.

Observe and report roadways, walkways, and parking areas potential safety issues such as but not limited to, debris, spills, obstructions, and uneven surfaces; ensures safe and visibly attractive terminal area enhancing customer experience and limiting liability exposure; assist customers needing urgent assistance for injuries or medical conditions and calls for the proper level of assistance and response; and may administer first aid when necessary; patrols parking areas. Conveys to customers the airport authority regulations for parking and provides visible deterrence to reduce criminal activity and associated property crime.

Communicates with Airport officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors, vendors, tenants the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Requirements

Requires the level of formal education typically acquired by high school graduation or acquisition of a GED. Requires very moderate vocational experience. Involves knowledge and comprehension of techniques, information, methods, procedures, which are related to specific jobs, and which can be acquired from some combination of vocational training, apprentice training, on the job training, or essential experience in lower-level jobs during a period of up to one year as a police officer or security guard. 

Specific License or Certification Required

Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Must be CPR and A.E.D. certified within 30 days of hire
