Job Description

The International Senior Tax and Trust Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with trust beneficiaries, and other interested parties for an assigned book of business consisting of international family relationships within the Personal Trust Services Division. The International Senior Tax and Trust Officer assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations in the context of their responsibilities.

What you are good at
  • Ensure each trust account is administered in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the terms of the governing instrument.
  • Develop and provide ongoing oversight over procedures and policies related to international accounts.
  • Personally administer an assigned book of international trust accounts.
  • Review international new business for suitability and acceptance.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, and tax teams to ensure trusts are meeting all international tax requirements and necessary reporting.
  • Interpret legal documents to ensure that each trust in assigned book of accounts is administered in accordance with the terms of each governing instrument.
  • Partner with AML team to ensure due diligence is being performed for international interested parties.
  • Maintain high client service levels through prompt research and responsiveness to trust beneficiaries and other centers of influence.
  • Present discretionary memorandums for review and approval of the Discretionary Distributions Committee.
  • Review and analyze discretionary distribution requests for approval.
  • Document directed distributions for the administrative file and for internal review.
  • Prepare termination memo for terminating trusts and transition account file to Terminations team.
  • Actively mentor junior staff members and participate in developing fiduciary expertise for the team.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Participate and lead team engagement efforts.
  • Respond to initial inquiries from Schwab advisors, third party contacts, and private individuals regarding both current and future trust prospects.
  • Ensure proper receipt of and accounting for miscellaneous assets in established trust accounts.
  • Perform post acceptance and administrative account reviews for assigned accounts.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Provide training and support to the Administrative Team in coordination with the Director of Trust Administration.
What you have
  • 10 years of experience in personal trust administration
  • Minimum of 5 years administering international and complex trust structures across multiple jurisdictions
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, JD or CTFA preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of trust administration and practical experience in administering trusts governed by Nevada/Delaware law, a plus
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality or accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with a variety of people
  • Highly motivated and a self starter

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
