This full-time role is part of a nine-month NERD (New Employee Recruitment and Development) program that blends on-the-job experience with an extensive training curriculum that covers tools, technologies, processes, and soft skills required to be successful in Schwab Technology Services. What you’ll do
As a member of the NERD program, you’ll be working as an Associate Site Reliability Engineer, as part of a dynamic group dedicated to creating solutions that will achieve highly available and resilient applications. You will collaborate with business partners and application development teams in constructing application and platform monitoring solutions, responding to incidents, and finding opportunities for improvements through automation. Additional opportunities may include:
· Balancing problem solving, solution engineering, and coding/scripting
· Preventing problems by improving observability, monitoring solutions, metrics, and system design
· Collaborating with business and technical partners to identify root cause, resolution prioritization, and quality improvement opportunities
· Coordinating maintenance activities, such as Stress Tests, Disaster Recovery Tests, and Certificate Renewals

· Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline with a graduation date of May
2023 or earlier and/or
· Workforce training certifications through coding bootcamps with a graduation date of August 2023 or earlier
· Ability to start full-time with the program on September 18, 2023
· Knowledge and experience with technologies such as Windows 2012/2016 operating systems, Windows infrastructure, SQL, IIS, Active Directory, PowerShell, and Server administration; scripting experience, a plus
· Familiarity with coding languages/frameworks such as C#, .NET framework, ASP.NET development, jQuery, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries such as backbone.js and require.js, AJAX, and HTML/CSS
· Experience with a software development IDE (Integrated Development Environment) such as Visual Studio
· Understanding of Agile/Scrum development
· Conceptual understanding or working knowledge of Web Content Management Systems, a plus
· Experience using Keynote and Gomez to monitor website performance and availability, a plus
· Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
· Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Inventiveness and eagerness to work with experimental technology
· Demonstrated leadership potential
· Passion and interest in solving problems applying innovation and experimentation
