Key Accountabilities:

• Electronically submit ACE & ACI shipments directly to Canada and US Customs for both Challenger and Elgin drivers
• Integrate information received via ISAAC satellite message into ACE/ACI systems and submit to Customs
• Interact with internal departments, customers, custom brokers, CBSA & CBP custom officials to resolve service issues when needed.
• Review the details of the shipment and ensure all information is entered accurately
• Prepare and forward paperwork to Customs brokers and drivers to obtain pre-clearances via fax and email
• Monitor shipments clearance by brokers to ensure clearance is done in a timely manner
• Answer inquiries from drivers by satellite, telephone, and in-person regarding customs clearances
• Troubleshoot and problem solve any Customs issues that arise
• Access web-based portals to view shipments and edit data when needed
• Assist drivers in completing ACE and ACI lead sheets, A8A’s, LVS, and U.S. Bonds
• Scan and index Customs paperwork into the company’s indexing system, Synergize
• Send proof of releases/clearances to brokers as required

Qualifications:

• Secondary School diploma
• 1 year of office administration experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• ACE/ACI knowledge is beneficial

Supervision:

This position reports to the Customs Supervisor. The department leader periodically checks assignments for progress. This position has no authority over other members of the team and has no direct reports.

Decision Making and Judgement:

Most instructions are available for assigned work or objectives, with some choice in setting priorities for tasks. Guidance, procedures or standards are easily available if needed and work may be checked for completeness, accuracy or quality. Problems are somewhat routine/repetitive, choices involve interpretation of directions, procedures, past precedent and new practices (often involving a manager or higher up to strategize future direction).
