CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a BridgeEngineer I to join our Bridge team from Hartford, CT.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA’s bridge professionals incorporate collaborative and diverse thinking with practical and cost-effective designs that responsibly improve mobility and safety. We have inspected, designed, managed, and overseen the construction of a wide array of grade separated crossings, retaining systems, and conveyance structures throughout the United States. As the average age of our nation’s bridges nears 50 years, successful bridge projects must balance complex analytics, engineering innovation and context sensitivity with economic prudency and long-term feasibility.

While working closely with professional engineers, the Bridge Engineer I assists in the administrative and technical management of CTDOT Bridge Rehabilitation/Replacement projects. Our Bridge Engineer I works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.

The Bridge Engineer I aids in preparing technical reports, contract documents and cost estimates for various engineering tasks. The Bridge Engineer I performs simple calculations and engineering design using the standards established by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the company, group, client, etc. This position is also expected to solve routine problems by applying defined procedures and attends field assignments when appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, Civil or related
• EIT certification is preferred
• No prior experience required; however, prior internship(s) and/or applicable coursework preferred
• Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline
• Has a strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field
• Familiar with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
• Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist mid and senior level engineering and project management staff
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
