The Role: 

Cerebral is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the finance organization around the monthly close process including preparing journal entries, owning select account reconciliations, and assisting in financial reporting. This position will analyze complex account activity and propose solutions for simplification. The role will work closely with multiple departments to provide financial information to aid in decision making. In addition, we are a rapidly growing organization working to professionalize our organization quickly- this role will work with the Accounting Manager and Controller to create and document processes and internal controls as the Company makes business decisions that will impact it for years to come. With Cerebral’s rapid growth, we need a strong accountant who can quickly help us build a high performing and scalable organization to support our ambitions.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA preferred
• 3 years of experience, ideally experience at a big four accounting firm followed by an in-house role, with experience driving process improvements and process ownership
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills; experienced at creating journal entries and reconciling complex accounts
• Highly detail oriented and organized
• Ability to meet a stream of constant deadlines and prioritize work
• Proven success in working both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
• High integrity, self-aware, and humble

• Work with Accounting Manager to facilitate the monthly close process on an end-to-end basis, ensuring the quality and timeliness of close by:
• Preparing journal entries
• Reconciling accounts and proposing adjusting entries
• Preparing or assisting with financial reporting
• Analyze complex account activity and processes and make recommendations for improvements to simplify and streamline operations.
• Maintain a fixed asset register.
• Assist Accounting Manager in building out new processes and structure addressing and improving the month-end close process, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Document and monitor internal controls once put in place.
• Create detailed process documentation, ensuring accounting implications of processes are clearly understood.
• Support the annual audit with the Company's external auditors.
• Answer questions from other departments by researching account activity.
• Areas of ownership will rotate over time. 
• Various special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
