Job Title: I/R Special Procedures Tech
Duties
Responsible for performing cardiovascular and interventional radiological procedures.Job StandardsPerforms responsibilities consistent with hospital safety policiesCompletes work with little or no supervision.Ensures efficient utilization of resources.Coordinates activities within set standardsFunctions as an active member of committees, as needed.Makes suggestions/recommendation for improved operations to the department, facility.Effectively communicates both orally and in writing.Knows and applies infection control policies and processes when handling and disposing of blood and body fluids.Performs procedures in multiple modalities.Properly positions patient for exams.Correctly adjusts radiographic exposure factors.Demonstrates knowledge and skill in administration, side effects and complications of contrast media.Basic knowledge and skill in the care of IV’s, catheters and drainage tubes.Recognizes and appropriately handles changes in exams and procedures for the patient.Performs exams accurately and completely, including accurate maintenance of the patient record.Competent in performing cardiovascular procedures in a surgical or sterile field.Serves as an effective preceptor.Demonstrates thorough understanding of cardiovascular procedures.Competent in use of technology and computers as necessary for job responsibilities.Oversees and implements diversity specific safety plans and implements accident prevention/safety measures.Collaborates effectively with physicians for the care for cardiovascular patients.Demonstrates effective communication skills appropriate to population diversity.Demonstrates an awareness of and implements National Patient Safety Goals as applicable to area of practice.Plans and implements advanced cardiovascular educational offerings for team and community.Coordinates department inventory.Effectively serves as super user for patient monitoring charting system and/or fluoroscopic systems.Serves as a resource to staff, students and other health care staff in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to cardiovascular knowledge.System StandardsKnows, understands and adheres to system/hospital/department policies and procedures.Demonstrates and takes responsibility for workplace safety.Demonstrates and takes responsibility for confidentiality/HIPAA.Demonstrates and takes responsibility for cultural/spiritual diversity and inclusion.Demonstrates and takes responsibility for infection control/prevention.Attends mandatory in-services, staff meetings and pertinent seminars.Completes mandatory education requirementsMeets attendance requirements.Meets licensure/certification requirements.Follows and complies with government and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure CategoryCategory I: Job usually involves contact with patients or patient specimens. Skills
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in cardiovascular procedures. License/Certification
ARRT (CI) or ARRT (VI) Registration or RCIS required.
Current BLS Certification.
Current ACLS Certification.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide
care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited radiology technician program or registeredcardiovascular invasive specialist program. Must successfully complete VHS AncillaryPreceptor training within first six (6) months.Experience1-year experience in cardiac Cath lab for RCIS certified individuals or 2 years ofexperience in Cath lab or interventional radiology units for ARRT (CI) or ARRT (VI)candidates.
