Central Arkansas Workforce Development Area is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Benton, AR

Job Description of Equipment Operator:

The City of Benton is searching for an Equipment Operator to repair and maintain City streets and right of ways within the jurisdiction to the City.

Duties and Responsibilities of Equipment Operator:

  • Operates all heavy equipment such as backhoe, mini-ex, skid steer, etc.
  • Operates bush hog in weed control of City properties, right-of-ways, and ditches.
  • Operates asphalt roller for street overlay and street cut repair.
  • Operates street sweeper and vacuum truck for cleaning of streets and curbs.
  • Operates hand and power tools to make street repairs.
  • Assists in cleaning and replacing culverts, drains, ditches and bridges.
  • Disposes of brush and limbs that fall in the right of way. (cut, chip, burn)
  • Performs concrete maintenance. (street, curbs, tile)
  • Replaces and repairs signs throughout the city.
  • Repairs street signs and poles. (Operate computer and fabricate)
  • May be required to serve on-call or be available in inclement weather situations for call-outs.
  • Repairs signal lights.
  • Operates dump truck and other vehicles as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Requirements of Equipment Operator: All hiring decisions are contingent on the selectee passing background check and drug screening.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and nineteen (19) to twenty-three (23) months related experience.
  • Must hold a current Class B (commercial Driver) license and maintain for duration of employment in this position.
  • Drivers training course, work zone safety training.
  • Defensive driving school.
  • Flagging school.
