Center for NYC Neighborhoods is Hiring a Strategy Manager Near New York, NY

About the Center

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (the “Center”) is a New York not-for-profit that promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York State so middle- and working-class families can build strong, thriving communities. We meet and support the diverse needs of homeowners throughout the state by offering free services and affordable loans while advocating for systemic change to address racist housing policies. Today we are working to close the racial wealth gap through the Black Homeownership Project, developing new programs to respond to the climate crisis, and helping New York State to deliver nearly half a billion dollars in COVID-19 relief.

Position Summary 

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods seeks a Strategy Manager to join our Executive team. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, dynamic and collaborative and who can support the project management and implementation of organizational goals and priorities and drive effective cross-team collaboration. The ideal candidate is passionate about working at the intersection of programs and projects and nonprofit management. This role reports to the Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead strategic projects, under the supervision of the Chief of Staff
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to ensure timely planning, management and tracking of organizational goals and priorities. Support the completion of action items necessary to meet deadlines and keep projects moving forward effectively.
  • Identify and generate recommendations for continuous improvement of strategy and processes across the organization, informed by analysis, best practices, and discussions with staff. 
  • Assist in the implementation of tools, processes, and projects that facilitate effective cross-team collaboration and build and capture institutional knowledge. 
  • Lead the operations and logistics, including scheduling, drafting materials, and follow-ups, for organization-wide events and training such as Lunch and Learns, internal briefings, staff meetings, working groups, New hire intro, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Chief of Staff and HR to identify professional development opportunities and training to support learning and collaboration across the organization. 
  • Support the Chief of Staff and Chief People and Culture Officer (CPCO) in the coordination of the Racial Equity Working Group and affinity groups, which advance internal equity initiatives. 
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Team as it relates to handling mail, files, forms and IT requests. 
  • Perform other duties reasonably related to job requirements, as assigned

Minimum Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of non-profit work experience in demanding, fast-paced environments
  • Interest in programs, projects and nonprofit management and demonstrated interest in the Center's mission.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes
  • Project management skills and a proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and stay organized; experience using Asana as a project management tool is desired, willingness to learn is required
  • A willingness and interest to take on a variety of tasks and a “no job is too big or too small” attitude.
  • Ability to respond enthusiastically and positively to ambiguity
  • This is a hybrid role intended for candidates within commuting distance from our office.

Salary Range - $75,000-$85,000

We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
