Center for Elders' Independence is Hiring a Business Intelligence Manager Near Oakland, CA

The Position: The Business Intelligence Manager will be involved in many different business-driven initiatives spanning organizational leadership and business units (clinical, marketing, operations, finance, transportation, human resources, etc.). This manager will be a member of the Quality team and manage a team developing, implementing, and supporting BI Solutions. The Business Intelligence Manager is the primary resource responsible for overseeing, developing, and meeting the organizations reporting requirements. 

This role will be responsible for the operation, continuous improvement, and innovation of the Data Analytics & Enterprise Business Intelligence platform that is used for delivering a wide variety of data and analytic solutions for various business stakeholders. The individual in this role will provide input on ways to improve our processes, and incorporate best practices and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director, Quality and Performance Improvement to ensure that they clearly understand the business priorities and are working on the right projects.
  • Implement solutions that eliminate or minimize technical debt through a well-designed architecture, data model, and lifecycle
  • Ensure alignment with the company's standards and procedures for project management, architecture direction, development standards, security requirements, and supportability.
  • Direct a team of analysts, and others in delivering big data capabilities. Invest time in coaching and mentoring team members. Encourage the team to innovate and be creative.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders (Marketing, Finance, Operations, Clinic, Providers, etc.), to understand their data and reporting needs
  • Builds reports using BI solutions, reporting tools, and data visualization methods to support clinic operations, administrative and management requirements, reporting requirements for external entities such as DHCS and CMS, clinical quality improvement, and resource management projects.
  • Locates and gathers a wide variety of information related to the quality of care, resource management, and other aspects of caring for frail and elderly participants in a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). Work with multiple disciplines to collect and validate the requested data.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates methods of data collection, including using questionnaires conducting interviews, and researching databases. Works with other team members and coworkers to develop data audit and management processes. Works with audit teams to develop reports and tools to improve audit functions.
  • Monitors and critically reviews data submitted by others for the timeliness, clarity of presentation, conciseness, validity, and accuracy. Makes recommendations on enhancements to data acquisition methods and standards to improve data quality.
  • Applies statistical methods to analyze and interpret data in order to increase the understanding of processes, procedures, events, and interventions.
  • Prepares graphs, charts, and other statistical representations of data, demonstrating high proficiency in the use of data visualization tools such as Excel, Crystal, Business Objects, and other tools.
  • Brings to management’s attention any correlation in patterns, trends, etc., and draws inferences of interest to quality and process improvement projects.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors (with 8 years) or Masters (with 5 years) in Informatics, Healthcare, Data Analysis, Information Technology, or Database Administration and Development
  • Healthcare experience is required if education is outside Healthcare.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Uses good judgment to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support team members and coworkers with data analysis and meaningful information.
  • Must have a proven track record of working successfully with cross-functional teams delivering high-quality and complex solutions within healthcare.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to discuss and present information and issues across a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Self-starter and motivated to help improve healthcare operations in an ACO/population health management care model

Qualifications Preferred

  • 8 years of experience creating reports and providing data analysis in a healthcare environment.
  • Medium to high-level expertise with reporting tools such as Cognos, SQL, SSRS, Crystal, Tableau, Python, R, Hadoop, and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of eCW EMR, CCMR, and EBO; EPIC, Cerner, NextGen, AllScripts, or other Ambulatory EHRs.
  • Experienced with quality improvement projects, clinical analysis, and practice management reporting preferred.
  • Population Health Management knowledge desired.
  • Knowledge of current problems, developments, and trends in PACE, managed care, senior care
  • Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are all essential in this role
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously
  • Results-oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office, Excel, MS Project or Smartsheet
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and procedures and experience with ETL tools are desired.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, data security, policies, and procedures
