Center City Public Charter Schools is Hiring a School Social Worker - Now Hiring Near Washington, DC

Job Description

This posting is for the 2022-2023 School Year.

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Location: All campuses

Department: Curriculum and Instruction

Team: Special Education

Center City PCS is looking for experienced school social workers to join our team. Social workers will carry a small caseload of students to provide direct social emotional support, while also supporting school climate efforts, and parents as needed. The ideal candidate has experience working collaboratively with parents, school teams, and community-based programs in support of students with and without IEPs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Carrying a small caseload of students at campuses to provide targeted 1:1 therapy or in groups as part of IEP or RTI plans
  • Assisting the Director of Family and Student Engagement and campus counselors to analyze, plan, and implement school-wide prevention programs and social-emotional curriculum
  • Conducting staff development sessions on relevant topics as needed
  • Working with the Director of Special Education and school-based teams to collect and analyze data related to student outcomes
  • Responding to crisis situations and coordinate with community service providers as needed
  • Completing all required documentation as required by law or prescribed by the Director of Special Education which may include IEP/504 documents, session notes and formal recommendations, or structured observations
  • Assisting in the proper referrals of students to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
  • Participating in school community events such as open houses or conferences

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree and DC certification (Required)
  • At least two years of experience (Preferred)
  • Training in trauma-informed practices and Tier 1 social emotional curriculum (Preferred)
  • Experience working in a PK-8 school setting (Preferred)
  • Experience working in an urban school (Preferred)
  • Will be required to travel between campuses using personal transportation
  • Must be able to show proof of full vaccination for COVID-19
