Center City Public Charter Schools is Hiring a Physical Education Teacher Near Washington, DC

About the Position

Center City PCS is actively seeking experienced and dedicated Physical Education teachers for elementary and middle school students. The Physical Education Teacher models a learning environment imbued with high expectations and rigor, ensuring all students realize high levels of academic and character development and maintain optimal physical health. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, content, and pedagogy
  • Set instructional outcomes
  • Design student assessments
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport
  • Establish a culture of learning
  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
  • Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
  • Use student data to inform instruction and integrate differentiated instruction
  • Engage parents and families in their child’s academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLC’s, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions
  • Reflect on teaching by accepting ongoing informal feedback and implement changes based on that feedback
  • Follow school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality 
  • Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable subject area
  • Highly qualified (certification preferred) to teach physical education
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrates proficiency with curriculum and materials of instruction in field of physical education
  • Able to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school system staff
  • Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth
  • References that reflect high standing with a past employer
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
