What you'll do here: Analyzes narrative content and creates and documents data conversion and transformation specifications. Creates sample content to support development work. Supports content architects by identifying schema changes required for product features. Develops, documents, implements and/or coordinates the generation of queries and scripts used to load, convert, extract and manipulate data Identifies sample content to include in test cases and writes test cases. Performs QA of stakeholder and team deliverables including converted data, specifications and queries for quality and completeness. Supports troubleshooting of content bugs in interchange format. Collaborates with team members on the development of content systems and workflows Provides input to schedules and project plans. Monitors project milestone/completion dates and evaluates status. Identifies innovative solutions and continuous improvements for data analysis processes & tools that streamline content planning development and publishing and ensures conformance to content/metadata standards. Establishes effective communication within team and with other teams to exchange information, coordinate common efforts, initiate new projects, and maintain effective working relationships Promotes the use of data standards. Performs additional responsibilities as needed to achieve company goals. A Content Engineering Analyst candidate must have: Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent Minimum 2 years experience in working with structured content (i.e. HTML, XML or relational databases). Previous experience analyzing content models using DTD's or XSD schema languages Basic knowledge of database and document management concepts and techniques, including basic information retrieval concepts and practices. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments and responsibilities within deadlines Ability to build consensus across functional areas within cross-functional project teams Knowledge and understanding of software development lifecycle and business process reengineering concepts Able to clearly communicate in a variety of styles and settings. Ability to deal with ambiguity The ideal candidate would also have: Experience with Cengage products and services, processes and markets. A working knowledge of W3C Standards such as XSLT, XPath, XQuery Familiarity with current taxonomy and ontology languages and Cengage metadata standards.
