Job Title: HR Internship

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: HR Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)

The Human Resources Intern is responsible for executing the entire New Hire Onboarding cycle through completion. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. The Intern will also receive firsthand experience with day to day Human Resources functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Responsibilities

  • Ensures all equipment, IT support, meeting rooms, supplies, projection screens, TV's, presentations, logins to websites and paperwork are prepared and ready prior to each scheduled onboarding.
  • Ensures communication between the New Hire and the Travel Coordinator for travel, hotels, and transportation
  • Executes, conducts and is responsible for all approved HR and Benefit Orientation sessions.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
  • Data entry in HRIS and other record keeping systems as assigned
  • Schedules onboarding as requested by team members and the management group
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
  • Prepares new-employee files
  • Performs administrative and clerical support tasks
  • Performs basic filing and recordkeeping
  • Travel to Sites across North America may be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Health & Safety

  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation
  • Incorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the position
  • Monitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety Department
  • Keep work area clean and free of clutter
  • Use proper equipment for the job, i.e. stepladder vs. chair

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Business Administration Degree candidate
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • None

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Manage confidential communications and information
  • Ability to work under time constraints and adhere to deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Manage multiple tasks, establish priorities
