The IT Business Analyst’s role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The IT Business Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify software & reporting specifications throughout the production life cycle. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Execute customer report builds to test and production environments. Write Pervasive and TSQL database scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company reporting as necessary for existing applications. Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging. Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process. Use SQL in Excel, Power Query and Crystal Reports to successfully implemented business intelligence and custom reporting which improved efficiency and management's visibility. Complete complex data analysis projects that provided insight into the cause and effect of business conditions relating every aspect of business operation. Implement process improvements on routine IT functions to achieve significant savings on outside professional IT services. Setup and maintained mass data migrations from Pervasive ERP database to SQL Server. Train end users to operate new or modified GAB customization, developed software products & reports. Install developed software products for end users as required. Support ERP (Global Shop) by troubleshooting issues, correcting data, maintaining Company Settings, Reports, Activating Features/Modules and User Security. Coordinate solving issues with Global Shop’s Tec Support, schedule group and individual training sessions. REQUIREMENTS College degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, or 4 years related experience. Experience in designing SQL Databases. Involved in all phases of software development life cycle (analysis, design, develop, test, deploy and maintenance). Capability of understanding code/functionalities of existing systems in Excel/Access VBA and migrate them to new application with enhancements. Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices. Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues. Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams. Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products. Highly self-motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Spends 90% of time in an office environment. Spends 10% of time in shop environment. May be exposed to potential shop hazards including high noise, fumes, heavy machinery and shop traffic. Some exposure to potential travel hazards.
