CCSWW is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist Near Tacoma, WA

Overview

$52,000.00-$62,000.00

Catholic Community Services (Tacoma) is looking for a dynamic HR Generalist to join our HR Team. This full-time position works both remotely (2days) and in the Tacoma office (3days). CCS provides excellent medical, dental, vision, LTD, life ins, pension, and supplemental benefits. 3 weeks vac/12 days sick/13 holidays

This Generalist position supports 2 HR Managers and an HR Director. Primary job duties include leave of absence administration, background checks, unemployment processing, new hire on-boarding, termination processing, employment verifications, and employee morale initiatives.

Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leave of Absences-Ensure all leave of absences are processed and employees are notified of their rights.-Respond appropriately to requests for leave of absences.-Initiate FMLA/PFML paperwork to employee or discuss other leave options with employee.
  • Background Checks-Ensure all background checks are processed timely.
  • New Hire/Terminations-Conduct New Hire Onboarding -Process Terminations. 
  • Benefits-Maintain thorough knowledge of our benefits plans and assist employees with enrollment and questions they may have about our benefits.
  • Unemployment-Respond to unemployment initial claims notices for FBH and FC.
  • Supervision-Supervises the 2 staff at the Reception Desk and on-call pool
  • General HR Office Support -Keep HR Director and HR Manager informed, when appropriate, of all ongoing issues and/or concerns.- Maintain thorough knowledge of FMLA, PFML, FLSA, Title VII, ADA, Assist employees with HR policy and procedure interpretations and other personnel concerns. Meet with appropriate personnel and assist as a team in problem solving when necessary.-Assist employees with payroll questions and concerns.- Back-up HR Manager for New Employee Orientation- Assist in the coordination of employee morale initiatives. Such as coordinating functions {i.e. All Staff Breakfast, All Staff Picnic, Holiday Celebrations} on an annual basis. Assist with ticket sales.- Complete employment verifications that require wage or performance information.- Answer phone, disseminate information whenever possible, coordinate calls, and respond as appropriate.- Assist with the COLA process by mail merging addresses and rates into COLA letters and assisting with mail prep.- Type correspondences, files, develop forms; prepare reports, letters, etc., as needed.- Manage the distribution of annual updated policies and Mission booklets.- Ensure required postings in all Family Center offices.- Schedule and coordinate for HR Director and Manager as needed.- Prepare HR P.O.’s for Director’s approval.- Manage petty cash.- Manage Happiness/Sadness flower purchases

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • PHR or AA in Human Resources
  • 3 years’ experience working in an HR office
  • Thorough knowledge of FMLA, PFML, FLSA, Title VII, & ADA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an understanding of diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and self-direction skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak to large groups.
  • Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork
