Cavallo is Hiring a Software Quality Assurance Specialist Near Grand Rapids, MI

Cavallo is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Specialist to join our high-performing Development Team. The QA Specialist will evaluate the functionality of our cloud and on-premises software applications, ensuring that company and customer quality standards are being achieved. Testing will involve assessing the state of existing software functionality, new feature and functionality additions, and customer-driven software customizations.

A typical day of a Software Quality Assurance Specialist would include the following:

  • Monitoring and testing of functional and non-functional requirements to ensure efficient and problem-free operations: 
    • Manual testing: Includes execution of manual functional testing based on analysis and understanding of written requirements, technical documents, specifications, acceptance criteria, and deployment environments. Verification of those test results through analysis of graphical user interfaces, databases, printed output, and data transmissions
    • Planning and performing the following testing practices: Limited Unit and Integration Testing, Functional (manual and automated), Limited Regression Testing, and Usability and Exploratory Testing
    • Issue reporting: Perform recursion testing against existing products, validate results, and report findings to the development team through the use of issue-tracking software
    • Technical analysis: Analyze product or feature requirements (solution comments, design specifications, and other documentation) in order to create test cases that demonstrate the intended product or feature functionality
    • Technical writing: Document and communicate issues found during the course of testing, collaborating with the development team for successful issue resolution
    • Analytical reporting: Provide management with requirements coverage analysis reports, test run results, and defect tracking reports
    • Clear and effective communication: Describe, document, and communicate to management and developers test results, tests performed, how, and why
    • Custom software testing: validation of software requirements and functionality of customization to existing software for clients
  • Clarifying business requirements when necessary, to ensure the final product satisfies business objectives and user expectations;
  • Test new code changes and verify functionality meets defined requirements, aiding in producing high-quality deliverables to teams and clients;
  • Ensuring the highest level of quality in new code and features being prepared for release into production;
  • Maintain system of testing, documentation, and results in accordance with standard test plans by evaluating existing test cases, expanding on existing test cases, and developing new test cases as needed;
  • Designing, developing, and implementing automated testing tools and acceptance processes across development teams;
  • Assist development teams and departments by answering questions and providing training on testing tools, practices, and procedures;
  • Work with our agile scrum team and contribute to ongoing process improvement;

This may be the job for you if:

  • You have 2 years experience in a Software QA or Software Development role (ERP experience preferable);
  • You possess demonstrable knowledge of the SDLC;
  • You are familiar with SQL, IIS, C#, JavaScript, and Visual Studio;
  • You are experienced in Agile Frameworks and issue-tracking software (e.g. Jira);
  • You are familiar with TDD;
  • You have experience working with a variety of multidisciplinary teams across an organization;
  • You possess strong communication skills with an aptitude for both written and verbal problem-solving with an eye for detail;
  • You’re a self-starter, adaptable, resilient, and able to assert yourself to keep projects progressing;
