Catholic Charities Diocese Of Des Moines is Hiring a Domestic Violence Coordinator Near Council Bluffs, IA

Summary

Provides for overall supervision and programming for the domestic violence component of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program. Organizes, plans, directs, and coordinates the domestic violence component consistent with Catholic Charities policies, goals, and guidelines. Monitors, the domestic violence component to ensure effective service delivery and compliance with all grant requirements. Supervises staff who are providing outreach and services to domestic violence survivors in a nine-county area in southwest Iowa.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops domestic violence programming to include court and hospital response, individual and group counseling, and community education in a nine-county service area.
  • Maintains quarterly schedule of rural office coverage and group facilitation coverage.
  • Provides for community awareness and education to include presentations that create awareness and prevention of domestic violence, Domestic Violence Awareness month activities, and training for agency professionals.
  • Works closely with Child Protective Services and manages the Safe and Together work for the program.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with community professionals and human service agencies, religious and civic organizations, and educational organizations.
  • Supervises Domestic Abuse team Advocates to provide services. Provides for regularly scheduled supervision with individual staff and regular team meetings.
  • Provides direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to include crisis intervention at law enforcement centers, hospitals, courts, and county attorney’s offices.
  • Works in conjunction with Volunteer/PR Coordinator to recruit, train and retain volunteers.
  • Evaluates program services and makes recommendations
  • Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and works with the Coordinator team for the overall development of the program.
  • Completes quarterly, bi-annual, and annual reports for program grants and monitors the team’s progress on goals and outcomes.
  • Works with the Program Manager and staff to develop an annual budget plan.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed).
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Solid knowledge of social work and practices as would normally be acquired through a Bachelor in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field and 1-2 years of related job experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to schedule concurrent activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various people with diverse social concerns and problems. Good knowledge and familiarity with needs and resources in the community. Requires knowledge of appropriate intervention techniques for working effectively with a variety of problems related to family violence.
